Coastal NJ PHC

Coastal New Jersey PHC

One our current goals is to support nearby PHC Clubs by attending their functions and attempting to organize state wide functions for all Parrot Heads to attend, thereby  presenting a more robust "Parrot Head Nation" face to our nearby communities and social organizations.

Back to Parrot Head Clubs

PHIP chartered Coastal Jersey Parrot Head Club in June of 2003 with Kate Kunert as Phounder and three friends as the board and members. Word spread and about 12 others, myself included, joined the club at their first social later that month.  We have continued to grow our Phlock with seeds of friends, family and a dose of liberal press releases and we average about 130-150 members, with most from Ocean and Monmouth Counties in New Jersey.

In 2004, PHIP recognized CJPHC at the MOTM leaders’ brunch with second prize for our newsletter, The Rhumbline. Our phantastic, energetic members are eager to join in our community charity and environmental activities as we Party with a purpose. As a result, CJPHC made the PHIP Domino College Dean’s List in every issue of the TradeWind Times. One of our community involvements is with the Arc of Ocean County, which provides opportunities, advocacy and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities. We join their Step up Walk every spring to show our support and help raise funds for their medical primary care center. The Arc honored CJPHC as their volunteer of the year in 2006. I was thrilled that with my suggestion and help, Singing for Change awarded them a $10,000.00 grant to help maintain their services in a time governmental funding cuts.

Coastal NJ PHCWe meet on the first Tuesday of each month for an informal Happy Hour at the Mantoloking Road Pub in Brick, NJ from 6 to 9 PM where DJ Jeff Allen is our host. At that time, we have a different charitable collection such as non-perishable food items; pop tops for Ronald Mc Donald House, cell phones for a woman’s shelter and eyeglasses for recycle for sight.

Other organizations and causes that have benefited from our time and fundraising efforts include:

Clean Ocean Action , Kelly’s Dream Foundation for Melanoma Research and Awareness, Ronald McDonald House, Jersey Shore Animal Center, Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Cancer Institute of New Jersey, Popcorn Park Zoo, American Cancer Society, Making Strides against Breast Cancer, Toys for Tots, and others.
