The Greater Dayton Parrot Head Club

Our members are parents, students, lawyers, CEO's, nurses, I work on base, and a substance abuse counselor... we come from every walk of life, age is no question, we are drawn together because we want to "party with a purpose and leave Dayton a better place..... and have a ton of fun while we do it".... As well as the love for a singer, songwriter, and poet.... we dress up in t-shirts and coconut bra's... we go a little crazy at the concert, we recover, and come back to Dayton to make a difference

Back to Parrot Head Clubs

The Greater Dayton Parrot Head Club was formed in November of 2007 by Julie Bey, the clubs current PREZ.  She attended her very first Buffett concert in July of 2007 at Riverbend and caught the PHever and wanted to experience the PHun year round.  Her findings for an area club led her to PHIP.  She was told that there is a small contingency of Parrot Heads in the area, but that there was no real sanctioned club in Dayton, OH.
So, with her new found knowledge and infectious smile, she charged forward and reached out to the few Parrot Heads in the area and thus The Greater Dayton Parrot Head Club was born.  The club started with 10 "Phinatics" and has steadily grown over the course of their first year to well over 40 members and about a dozen Parakeets to boot.
We love to tell people that the "island state of mind" is very much alive and well in land-locked Dayton, Ohio. Our club has been exceedingly active in the local area participating in events with charitable and not for profit organizations.  We have helped with fundraisers, raised awareness, helped the environment, lifted spirits and even managed to bring a few smiles along the way.
As mentioned, we even have Parakeets in our Club.  We try to invoke in them our mantra of having "the WRIGHT state of mind" and "to leave everything a little better than you found it", in hopes that it will live on in their hearts and minds as they grow and make
Dayton and the world a better place to live.  They are a tireless bunch.  Truly dedicated to our island way and giving back lifestyle. They always show up with a smile and ready to lend a hand, as small as it might be.
While the Dayton Parrot Heads might be a young club, we are an exciting crew.  We have big plans for 2009 as we continue to grow and expand our horizons.  Amazingly enough, we are hosting our first weekend hotel event, "FINZ 2 the WRIGHT", come August.
