 St.
Louis PHC
We are a locally organized
Parrot Head Club whose purpose is to provide a variety of social
activities and assist in community and environmental concerns.
Our events include
everything from Summer Beach Parties and cross-country
excursions to a Night at the Races and the St.
Louis Mardi Gras Parade. Our local club is a fun and inviting
bunch who love to have a good time while helping the community at the same
time. Many of our social activities include Food Drives and "Silent
Auctions" where members can bid on items with proceeds going to a
local charity.

The St. Louis Parrot Head
Club is celebrating its 20th Birthday this year.
Founded April 1st, 1990, we are second in line to join PHIP but
we are the oldest “continuous” running club.
We are currently 255 members strong!
Recently we participated in
our winter event, The St. Louis Mardi Gras Parade.
The parade consists of more than 100 floats with over 100,000
people in attendance. This
event is all about having a great time!
We put together a krewe, build our PHloat and throw thousands of
beads, all in support of a community event and at the same time we’re
recognized as a club within the community.
During the month of May we
invite our neighboring Clinton County Parrot Head Club and host a night
at the horse races. We
collect hundreds of canned goods at this event which are contributed to
our local food pantry during a time of year when food pantries are
running low and supplies are much needed.
In 2009 the St. Louis Parrot
Head Club made the largest donation in the history of the club to the
St. Louis Alzheimer’s Memory Walk.
We raised our drinks to toast the club and proudly presented a
check in the amount of $4,580 to the St. Louis Alzheimer’s
Association.
Our biggest event by far is
our Annual Christmas/Buffett Birthday Party which is dedicated entirely
to children in need within our community.
We collect toys for “Youth in Need” and funds are raised
through our silent auction for Project Backpack.
Project
Backpack’s sole mission is to help children in the St. Louis area who
are the silent victims of domestic violence.
The organization provides backpacks for children who are removed
from their homes usually with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Throughout the year our “sweat
equity” consists of filling these backpacks with necessary items such
as sleep tees; socks; toiletries; school supplies; games; books; and
toys donated by various entities. Proceeds
from our silent auctions are contributed for supplies to fill these
backpacks.
Along with these annual
events we’ll throw parties throughout the year to help other special
charities. Contributions
made by the St. Louis Parrot Head Club in 2009 totaled a tad more than
$14,000! This was a record year for membership participation at events
and we had such a great time, we are making plans to celebrate our 20th
birthday all year long!
Amazingly you wake up the
next day after an event, way past noon, wishing you where on a beach
with a Bloody Mary in hand and wonder how it happened!
The St. Louis Parrot Head Club “is growing old, but not up”!
We’re responsible adults wearing grass skirts, tropical shirts
and crazy hats. We’re
fun-loving, generous fruitcakes who can throw a heck of a party………
with a purpose!
We are Parrot Heads!
